A search field allows the user to search for content on a specific page, or on an entire webpage. The search field can in itself be the entire purpose of the website, such as Google, or the old Altavista. It can also be a small part of the web page. It is commonly located at the top right of the page, or at the top of an app.

The search field can be dynamic or persistent.
